Production Journal
Last Tuesday, we filmed in the gallery (studio). Unfortunately, we ran out of time so did not get as much footage as we had hoped. However, some of the footage was very successful and we have added it in to our music video. The rapping part of the music video has been finished and works well. Tomorrow morning, we are going back to the studio to film the rest of the footage. Once this is done, we will be able to finish our footage and will be ready to show it to the rest of the class next week.

We have edited the footage that we have. We feel it has been successful, and also the different shots are spread out equally. We decided not to include the limo footage until 2/3 of the way through the video to give some excitement to the video and ensure that it doesn't get boring. We have a range of shots including close-ups, mid shots, long shots and used the technique of split screens. We followed our storyboard to ensure that there are enough cuts which we feel has worked very well.
Here are some of our screen shots.

We are currently editing the footage that we have on final cut pro. We are finding it quite easy due to our detailed storyboard. However, it is not possible to film in the studio until after christmas so we are leaving gaps for the studio shots.

Photos from the bar and the limo.
Here are some photos of us when we were filming our footage. I think the lighting in most of these photos looks very good. However, some we are hoping to lighten.

Yesterday after school, we went back to the bar to film some more footage. We made sure that the lighting was better this time as we chose another place within the bar. We filmed individually and also altogether to ensure that we have enough footage when we start editing. We also filmed extra footage of us individually at the bar, as the bar itself was very pretty and a perfect location for us to film. We are now uploading the footage.

Production Journal
Over the past couple of weeks, we have begun filming for our music video. Two weeks ago, we went to the bar to film. It was a perfect setting for the music video. However, the lighting was quite dark and the lighting we took with us did not work. We did film some footage on the dance floor that looks how we wanted it to. However, footage on the sofa is very dark. We also did not have enough time to film as much as we would have liked. Therefore, we are going back to the bar tonight to film again. We are going to find a new location for me (the rapper) as the sofas were too dark. We are looking to use the pool table that would look very effective. We will not have a man for me (the rapper), so we going to film without one, showing that she does not need a man.
Last week, we filmed in the limo. The filming was very successful and we are happy with it. We have uploaded to footage to final cut pro and are looking forward to editing. We thought that the lighting would be a problem however it looks fine. The setting of the limo was perfect.
We are now trying to arrange the date for filming in the studio and hope to do this within the next two weeks.

- What will happen during the rapping?
- Need a group of people in the bar to create an atmosphere
- Record label?
- Consider saving one element to introduce 2/3 of the way through the video to hold audience interest.
- Logo?

N/A
We are happy with our feedback and glad that nobody feels that our ideas do not work. We have taken into consideration the aspects that people feel we need to develop and feel that our storyboard shows what will happen during the rapping. Also, many of the shots in the bar will be close-ups of us and the men and also of us performing so we feel that we do not need people in the background to create an atmosphere. The record label; Sony BMG, was stated during the pitch. We have taken the idea of saving one element for 2/3 of the way through to hold audience interest and decided to do this. Finally, we have completed our logo and will upload it to our blogs shortly.

Production Journal
We have now finished our storyboard, with over a 100 images. We feel the storyboard is in so much detail that it will be very easy and clear for us to know what to film. We have booked a limo for early in November so that we can shoot inside it. We are currently still looking for a bar. We have tried many places but unfortunately have not found one yet. We are now going to make an animation using our story board, that will show us how long the video will be so that we can match it up to the length of the song.

The outfits that we are going to wear will differ depending on where we are. When we are in the limo, we are going to be wearing red dresses, which comes from the name 'Scarlett'. This also connotes, danger, showing the girls have a wild side.

In the studio, we will be wearing black dresses, and all have a different leopard print accessory, for example, shoes, scarves, belts. The leopard print also shows their wild side.

In the performance in the bar, we will be wearing leggings, blouse and shoes.

We have produced a mood board to present our ideas in our music video. We are going to have a narrative and studio performance. The narrative will be in a bar, where the girls will be drinking, with men in shorts serving them. We are going to have a female gaze, and the scopophilia will be on the men. There studio performance will be the girls singing and dancing. We plan for the girls to have 3 outfit changes.
Now that we have decided on our brief and band name, we have now been deciding who is going to cast in the music video. The girls will consist of me, Sonia Lall, and Katie Brunt. We are still trying to find the boys to star in the bar. We also think we have found a location for the studio performance.

Music Video Brief
Scarlett Divas Our girl band consists of 3 girls who formed Scarlett Divas in 2009 when they all responded to an advert in the Stage magazine (they are a manufactured band) and all went to performing arts schools/were working on performing arts courses. They are signed to Sony BMG.
Sound: Funky pop.
Ideology: Girl power makes a comeback... with an edge.
Influences: Spice Girls, Cyndi Lauper, Destiny's Child.
Likes: Shopping, girly chats, travelling, independent women, learning new things.
Dislikes: Footballer's wives, being told what to do, copycats.
Our song choices were:
No Scrubs - TLC
Bills Bills Bills - Destiny's Child
Scandalous - Mis-Teeq
We also thought about Bootylicious and Independent by Destiny's Child, and Scandalous by Mis-Teeq, as we thought these songs fitted the brief. However, we decided to choose No Scrubs as we felt it was different, and we have not seen this music video so we will not be influenced.
We also changed the girl band name the brief gave us Good Girlz Bad to Scarlett Divas as we thought this fitted their ideology better.
